ARABICA

Arabica coffee usually has a range of tastes, depending on where it is grown, such as fruity, spices, and others. This form of coffee bean is used to make the bulk of the coffee available. Arabica coffee is also known for having a moderate coffee flavor and not disrupting sleep rhythms due to its caffeine content of about 1.2 percent and distinctive fragrance. Arabica is currently the most traded species globally, counting around 60% of the worlds coffee market. This species is known for its wide array of taste, flavour and aroma. 

Aceh Gayo Arabica coffee Beans grow in soil that is specific to the highlands, so it is almost impossible to find them in any other place. Gayo is part of the Bukit Barisan that lies along Sumatera Island, Indonesia. It is located in the central area of the Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam province. Today, Gayo is one of the most important areas for growing Indonesia’s Arabica coffee. Gayo Arabica coffee has a fine aroma and a very mild bitter taste.

Solok Selatan Arabica Coffee Beans are grown at an altitude of approximately 1200-1900 meters above sea level in the Danau Kembar region and on the foot of Mount Talang, Solok Regency, West Sumatra. This coffee is traditionally produced by coffee farmers. This coffee has a distinct flavor from other Arabica coffees in Indonesia. It has a lighter flavor and a heavy spicy fragrance. Additionally, this coffee has lemon and chocolate flavor notes.

ROBUSTA

Coffea robusta is grown at lower altitudes than Coffea arabica. The island of Sumatra is the largest producer, with the provinces of Lampung, South Sumatra and Bengkulu accounting for 50% of total national coffee production and up to 75% of Robusta production. Taste wise, it is characterized by strong body and more bitterness due to its high caffeine contain (around 40% more than arabica). It’s strong flavour made Robusta as an excelent base for coffee based beverages. This variety covers 30% of coffee trade in the global market.

Aceh Gayo Robusta Coffee have distinct flavor and just the right amount of bitterness. This coffee is excellent in terms of quality, coming from Gayo Highlands, which is recognised as the world’s largest coffee producer. The cupping notes are Cedar wood, dark chocolate, and sugar cane.

LIBERICA

Liberica Coffee is known to have resistance against pests, diseases and can survive in a harsh environment and even bad soil condition. Liberica is rarely traded globally, covering only around 2% of the world’s coffee market. Most of Liberica is grown in Indonesia, Malaysia and The Philippines. Liberica has the biggest bean among othersand has an asymetric long shape. The production of Liberica coffee is scarce, the varietals are limited and not well known amongst the wider coffee comunity. In the cup, Liberica is usually used as an espresso blend along with Arabica to add more strength while maintaining more complexities. This species has the highest caffeine levels among other coffee bean varieties. 

Jambi Liberica Coffee is very rare. It grows in Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency. Local community purposefully plant coffee beans in their peatlands in order to establish their own home industries. In terms of taste, Liberika coffee is unique. It tends to be bitter in taste and low in acidity with a caffeine content of 1.1 to 1.4 percent.
